Lyrics to a new song:
Beautiful Dangerous Blue
I was swept to sea while trying to be poetic
It always takes a tragedy to put it in perspective
I’ve been living through a drought that never leaves
My inspiration’s gone as well as my beliefs
And they say that David didn’t pen a psalm for seven years
Or did the words he write just disappear
The waves came so suddenly today
Did my friends all leave me or was I swept away?
Well David lived through his dry season and I guess I will too
To find my peace before being taken by this dangerous blue
And I don’t know why I still sang Hallelujah to my King
Maybe it’s habit, or maybe it’s deeper than everything
I woke up on the beach with a million fish
I know I prayed for rain but I never meant like this
And they say that David didn’t pen a psalm for seven years
Or did the words he write just disappear
Paper can burn, why do I hope these words immortal?
And then you said it’s still all elemental
Well David lived through his dry season and I guess I will too
Before being taken by this beautiful dangerous blue
And I don’t know why I still sang Hallelujah to my King
Maybe it’s habit, or maybe it’s deeper than everything
