Well as you can probably guess I am definitely a happy camper at the moment. This is the first time that a team I’ve actively rooted for has gone to the final championship game. I don’t really count the 85 Bears because I barely recollect that, and I don’t count the time the Blackhawks got swept in the finals by the Penguins because, well just because. And I gotta tell you, the air tastes sweet, breakfast felt more fulfilling than ever, and my snow laden drive to work seemed like a joy.
So some of my quick thoughts about yesterday’s game:
– 0 Turnovers, 1 penalty. Wow, that is a well coached team.
– They abandoned the Cover 2 for the most part, and it worked. I’d never seen such an unstubborn move. It was brilliant.
– I was kind of hoping that Lovie would call a timeout with like a minute and a half left just so everyone could cheer for the Saints and their amazing season, a la Larry Brown when Reggie Miller retired. I’m not sure how that would have come across though, as it may have actually come off insulting, but in my mind I imagine that being a very classy thing to do.
-Â I didn’t get to watch it, but I did tivo it and watched it later last night, and still felt the emotional roller coaster, even though I already knew how it ended.
– I’m very torn thinking about next year, because we really have two excellent Running Backs, and I have a feeling one of them is going to end up leaving in the off season. It’s a shame. But oh well, we still got one more game with them.
I never thought I’d actually be writing up a Super Bowl Preview for the Bears, but oh man does it feel good. As Sexy Rexy said “one more game, we got one more game.”
Oh, and sorry Tim that we couldn’t have an 86 rematch. So close, but Payton was bound to pull out a last second win against New England at some point in his career.
It was a nice season for the Saints, but Reggie Bush’s taunt/flip/dance after his 88-yard touchdown reception about made me sick. How appropriate that they never scored again after that made it 16-14.
GO BEARS! I loved the comment after the Indy game that the Bears and Colts should just meet at Ft. Wayne and play there.
Glad to hear about your Bears, Morgan! For the first time in years (I think since Broncos/Green Bay back in college) I actually care about who’s going to the Super Bowl. We’ll be cheering with you!
And I get to be in a city whose economy and wellfare depends on the game. 🙂 I love this city after a Bears win!
Oh man it’ll be bustling on Monday! Or at least let’s hope!
