Never before have I seen so many bad-ass old ladies since my Grandmother (may she rest in peace) and her sisters would make trouble. The story is of Siddalee (Bullock) discovering why her mother acted the way she did growing up, and coming to a point of having a relationship with her. A heartwarming, though predictable, story that is portrayed very well. However, I can’t express how great the bad-ass old lady stuff is. Maggie Smith especially. Seeing her put sleeping pills in someone’s drink and talking about how it will “Knock her on her ass” just sums it up for me. But the uninteresting story is what earns it only a 3-1/2.
