A surprisingly poignant and touching story about a guy who gets so frustrated with his life that he takes it out on God, who in turn lets him have all his powers to see how he can manage. When I first saw previews for this movie (before The Two Towers, in fact), I couldn’t help but roll my eyes. The previews, however, were very deceiving, as they make the movie appear to be very stupid and just an excuse to let Jim Carrey act crazy. It turns out to be quite the opposite, as the movie is not only very well thought out, but also very profound. It is also extremely funny. Overall, one of the most surprisingly good movies I’ve seen in a while. Also, if I got to heaven and God turned out to be Morgan Freeman, I don’t think I’d be all that upset.
